International Relations (IR) is a sub-field of Political Science, along with Comparative Politics and Political Theory. International Relations Theory is a relatively new area of expertise that studies International Relations from a theoretical perspective. Historically, it was dominated by two paradigms - Realism and Liberalism. Recently, among other theories and perspectives, an influential Civilizational Paradigm has emerged. The presentation contains analysis of the roots, significance, as well as shortcomings of those schools of thought. Looking into the future, the author of this paper proposes and substantiates a new, Integralistic Paradigm in International Relations Theory.
