Here I provide information on current FDA emergency approved monoclonal antibodies from Regeneron & Eli Lilly to treat Covid-19. Reducing severity of Covid-19 is important for better outcomes and less casualties.
Names of antibodies used for treatment of Covid-19: Eli Lilly = bamlanivimab | Regeneron = casirivimab and imdevimab. The ‘mab’ ending of these drugs stands for monoclonal antibodies, so you may recognize this ending for other pharmaceuticals.
You can think of antibody / antigen interactions like a lock & key. Specific antibodies (locks) interact with specific antigens (keys). This makes these drugs great for successful efficacy with minimal off target effects.
