Here is what causes it and how to fix the issue;
Dead key fob
A push-to-start car must have its key fob inside the vehicle for the engine to start. When your dashboard shows the key-is-not-found warning light, your car security system cannot communicate with the key fob’s transmitter. Your key fob’s battery is likely dead, and you will have to open it and replace it with a new battery for the push-to-start button to work.
Proximity challenge
It is also possible that the key fob is too far for the car sensors to detect it. So bring the key fob closer to the start button, so the car can communicate to the fob’s transmitter.
Brake is not depressed
The push-to-start button will only ignite your car if the brake pedal is fully depressed. Sometimes, someone not conversant with the push-to-start type of car will forget to step on the brake pedal. This will thus prevent the car from starting.
Dead car battery
It is also likely that your car’s battery is dead. If your dashboard light does not come on, it is proof enough that you will need to jump-start the car battery with another well-functioning car’s battery, and the push-to-start won’t work unless the car battery is boosted or replaced.
Defective start button
The Start/Stop button can also malfunction after a while. If the push-to-start button works after pressing it at a certain angle or several times, the button may be worn out. You will have to replace the switch with a new one or contact a technician to fix the issue.
