Pacific Blue®'s distinctive color is its elegant flowers, a rare, soft lilac with a darker center and reverse, similar to Tantau's celebrated 1964 cultivar, Mainzer Fastnacht®. However, it differs in its dense growth habit, abundant blooms, and intense fragrance. As the flowers mature, they take on lighter lavender hues. The leaves are dark green. The foliage has good resistance to powdery mildew and moderate resistance to black spot. Pacific Blue® can be used as a cut rose. It requires winter protection in areas with cold winters, USDA zones 6b-9b. Please note that there is a rose variety called Blue Pacific (Tan98485), developed by the German breeder Hans Jürgen Evers (1940-2007) and patented by Rosen Tantau in 2002.
