Hi! Major spoilers for those who don't know Tsukki's backstory (of course, most, if not all, of my Haikyuu edits contained spoilers to some degree xD) Read at your own risk.
The first time I saw Akiteru, the scene only showed for a couple of seconds, but I knew I would feel bad for Kei. Sure enough, the next episode made me feel so sorry for him and think that this is probably why Kei has trust issues. Someone whom he looked up to for all of his life had broken and shattered his heart during his childhood. The damage was done. It was irreparable. Years would go by, and the feeling of ever enjoying the sport that they once bonded over seemed nonexistent.
Later on, Kei would begin to understand Aki's feelings at the time and will have his moment one day too, but when I went back and rewatched the episodes again and again it made me think more and want to hit Aki for how similar our circumstances are. Like for real, Akiteru. We are both the eldest in our families. We both have our only one younger sibling who looks up to us as their role models and wants to be exactly like us. We're the ones who are supposed to set up good examples for them. They trust us to do the right thing with them and for them. So, why did you betray your younger brother? You think it was better to hide the truth and lie to him? You don't think that he's smart enough to understand or handle something like this? You didn't think that by doing this, it would ever greatly affect and impact him in some kind of way?
Of course, there were times that even I had hurt my sister over the years and never really meant to, and I'm truly sorry for it. None of us are perfect, and I'm happy that we aren't. It makes us human.
And for that, I understand Akiteru's intentions. He never meant to hurt Kei by any means. Though, life does happen, and the truth was bound to come out eventually. I think that we all felt bad for what Kei went through and experienced during this time of his life.
I'm glad we're the eldest siblings. We both felt pain and experienced emotions long before they ever could, which makes us both empathetic to them. All we wanted to do is protect them from ever feeling like this and to hold them close to us.
But, they are strong, smart, and can handle the real world. Even if we're now apart from our siblings and live different lives, we would still pick up the phone if they ever call. If they ever needed their older sibling, we'll be here for them no matter what. And we'll both check on them from time to time as well because that's what we do. This is how we show our love and care for them.
Though Akiteru, why do we both have younger siblings that eventually grew taller, smarter, and more talented than us (this would probably be where my sister and I would disagree xD)?
Thanks for being Kei's older brother! Thanks for doing everything that you could do for him, and even more! Continue to be the big brother that you are for him! As the eldest sibling myself, you have my support and my upmost respect!

I am also dedicating this to my only younger sibling once again. She's my best friend, and I'm grateful to have her as my sister! ♥ I always wanted to edit a NF song for her since she is the one who showed me his music and I introduced her to this anime c: Getting my sister to watch it without telling her it was about volleyball was hard since she loves playing this sport too xD

Story:
Tsukishima Kei has trouble comprehending the world around him. He views life around him as dull and does not understand the true meaning of why people give their all in such things, especially when it comes to sports or such hobbies. Take volleyball for example. Tsukishima cannot help but ponder what is so special about this sport? It is just a club to him. There is no real benefit in the long run for him to keep doing this, so why even bother trying?
People often try to get him to open up and reveal his side of the story, not that it would be such an easy task to do. Anyone looking from the outside-in would be able to distinctly discover that Tsukishima Kei is not as dedicated to this game compared to everyone else within his age group. He is even a starter on his team as well! Is this not a privilege for him to be able to achieve such a role during his first year in high school? Does he even like playing? Just what is his reason for joining the volleyball team in the first place if he is not practicing as much as everyone else?
