How To Convert a String to a Date in Tableau - Tableau in Two Minutes
In this video we parse a string date into a Tableau date, using the "date" "dateparse" and "left" functions to convert an incorrectly formatted string into a working and date you can manipulate easily. This type of conversion often has to be done when you download data from a data warehouse directly into a text file, and end up with a date that has a timestamp attached.
The data is a simple set of GPA data cooked up specifically for this demonstration.
