Mediation Training and Opening Statements
Mediation opening statements are an important and often under-utilised feature of commercial mediation. The opening statements can be delivered in a joint session and it's usually the first time in the context of the dispute where parties get to hear directly from each other. Opening statements can lay the foundations to a productive dialogue, assuming that is, the mediator has the skills and confidence to manage the interaction between parties and their solicitors.
The mediator has an important role to play to help the parties and also their advisors to adopt the right mindset for the mediation.
