How to Sew Zipper with Placket
Zippers are a great way of giving openings in your garments. You could have a zipper at the side, back or even front of your garment. However if we decide to do zipper in the front having a joint on the fabric right j the front is not usually desirable. In that case we need a help of a placket to cover up the zipper.
In this video I’m demonstrating how to place a zipper in front of your garment using a placket. Remember to iron on the fusing to make your fabric slightly stiff so it can handle V shape slit at the bottom without fraying.

The Studio caters to many aspects of Garment Construction including providing Sewing and Pattern Drafting Lessons for all type of garments however simple or intricate they may be. The courses are designed in an easy understand manner without compromising on the Industry standards. As part of our Tailoring classes, sewing instruction is taught with an emphasis on key industry skills and techniques to create garments that look store-bought, not homemade. All of our sewing classes are both fun and productive, instead of just one or the other. We encourage anyone who is interested in sewing clothes to join us, whether you are strictly a hobbyist or interested in learning construction skills to bring your original fashion designs to life. Born, bought up and educated in numerous cities across India, Kalpana Singh now calls Kuala Lumpur home. Having completed her post graduate diploma in fashion design from the premier fashion institute in India, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, she worked in the fashion industry for 10 years prior to relocating to Kuala Lumpur in 2009. MEET THE FOUNDER In 2011, she founded Kalpana Singh Design Studio Sdn.Bhd and established D Sew Club, the learning arm of her Design Studio. Her objective of establishing D Sew Club was to introduce newbies and intermediate sewing enthusiasts to the “proper” way of constructing garments. She believes that sewing itself is a simple process of joining two pieces of cloth, but making a dress is an art of garment construction. At D Sew Club, the proper technique, method and process of garment construction is introduced and taught to the students. For the past 7 years, she has taught students pattern drafting, pattern cutting and finally, sewing to create unique and customised designs, all under her close supervision and guidance. Being a professionally trained pattern drafter, she loves decoding complicated designs on paper and finds thrill in creating intricate patterns. As a part of her Design Studio, she has been actively creating bespoke garments for numerous clients. She also showcased her design collection at Malaysia Fashion Week A/W 2017/18 and A/W 2018/19 where her work was highly acclaimed.
