Gas Mask Mistakes That Could Get You Killed
Two mistakes that could cost you your life in a CBRN emergency.
Mistake 1: Quick-donning a mask that isn't designed for it.
Not every gas mask can be quick-donned by flipping the harness over the front. If your respirator doesn't have a head harness loop it cannot be quick-donned — attempting it in a real emergency could be fatal.
Mistake 2: Mounting two 40mm filters simultaneously.
Two filter ports does not mean two filters. Most CBRN respirators are not certified for filters exceeding 500g combined weight. A single combined filter already weighs 360g+. Two filters may compromise the seal during fast movement or sudden head movements.
