DIY 4-Track Looper w/ Raspberry Pi | Building a Loop Station
This video shows the build and setup process for a basic 4-Track Loopstation (AKA Looper, AKA Loop Pedal), based on the Raspberry Pi computer. The process essentially involves connecting a USB sound card and some buttons and lights to the Raspberry Pi, then downloading and running a Python script.
I think this would be a relatively simple project, well suited in particular to people who are new to electronics but have some experience with Linux.
UPDATE: The new version of pulseaudio seems to monopolize the soundcard, preventing the python scripts from accessing it. To fix this, simply uninstall pulseaudio.
