The T34 Sherman Calliope Rocket Launcher is a modification of the American M4 Sherman medium tank equipped with a 114mm multiple rocket launcher. The Calliope was initially developed to support Allied forces during the Normandy landings, but this idea was abandoned because the installation of rocket launchers shifted the tank's center of gravity and made it unstable during transport. Despite the initial revision, the MLRS was actively used in 1944–1945 in various battles between US tank divisions. Even with limited use, the Calliope was an effective psychological warfare weapon: the noise created by its launches was sometimes enough to intimidate enemy soldiers. After the war, many of these tanks were scrapped or written off due to their low effectiveness.
