High spinal cord injured (SCI) persons have lost the majority of their voluntary motor abilities. In addition to paralysis of the lower extremity, also their upper limb functionality is usually severly limited. This means, that brushing eating, drinking or even brushing their teeth becomes a severe challenge, or is not even possible without a caregiver at all!
With the H2020 project MOREGRASP, we were seeking intervention for this group of people and decisivley developing means to ease their daily life struggles.

In detail, the aim of the MoreGrasp project is to develop a non-invasive, multi-adaptive, multimodal user interface including a brain-computer interface (BCI) for intuitive control of a semi-autonomous motor and sensory grasp neuroprosthesis supporting individuals with high spinal cord injury in everyday activities.

The project MoreGrasp has ended and finally technology is ready for a proof-of-concept study.
