DEAR TO GOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (June 18, 2023)
We are on the Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in today’s gospel, Jesus sends his disciples, commissioning them to proclaim that the Kingdom of God is at hand and to “Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, and drive out demons.”
Like Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew; James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew; James, son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; and Simon from Cana and Judas Iscariot “who betrayed him,” Jesus is sending each of us in the Church to spread his word and to assure people that they are dear to God.
Will we follow him? And when we do, will we be faithful to him? Let us pray for the grace of perseverance.
