There are people who fast to lose weight; others who fast for #mental, #physical, or #spiritual health reasons. And you? Why do you fast?
However, there is a great danger in fasting, no matter the form or reason when we make it a norm and impose it on others. This is called self-#righteousness.
Just because we fast doesn’t mean we have to impose it on others or that it must become a norm.
This is what the #Pharisees reproach Jesus for, saying that the disciples of #John the #Baptist fast while his disciples do not.
Such a vision or attitude represents a danger even for many Christians: wanting to make our tradition a norm that prevents us from living.
This is why Christ offers us a renewed spirituality; He invites us to live our spirituality differently by actualizing it without making it an #imposition.
