Fly Fishing West Pt.1 |Colorado|
JD and I planned a completely self guided trip out west fishing 3 states over 10 days!! Both of us have never experienced the west quite like this. Completely on our own, in the wild no contact to the outside world, just us and our fly rods. First stop on our trip the Jersey boys hit Colorado. What an amazing state, we only fished it for a day and a 1/2 but man did it deliver. We fished the Elk River which was within walking distance of our campsite which was perfect. Our first night camping we had caught 4 fish. 2 Brookies a brown and a wild rainbow. Unfortunately the GoPros were charging at this moment and all we got was some release footage with our phones. The wild rainbow had escaped my line because I lacked in the net department at the time. We woke up and moved up stream a tiny bit and both missed some nice fish. After a tough morning we moved to Willow Creek. A smaller stream that runs into the elk river. There we found some rainbows and they were active! We got very little fish footage in CO but had a great time and caught a bunch of fish.
