Laureate of the 1st Republican Theater Festival-Competition "Singing Dagestan" – Lak State Musical and Drama Theater named after E. Kapiyev – play "Shchaza from Kurkli"

Director – People's Artist of the Republic of Dagestan Aslan Magomedov

The drama begins in Shchaza's father's house in her native village of Kurkli. The girl's parents learn that she is in love with the son of wealthy parents from a neighboring village.

Shchaza's mother reminds her that she is a poor girl and the boy is from a wealthy family, so his family will oppose their marriage. Her father forbids her from even thinking about him: "If you have allowed something that tarnishes my honor, I will kill you! If I hear you speak of the Abakarovs' son again, you have no place in my house!" Shaza refuses to give up her love, and her father throws her out. She finds refuge in the home of the Kazikumukh qadi, Abduragim, where she is hired as a housekeeper. There, she is treated as an equal. At a family celebration, a wealthy friend of a family from the village of Vachi proposes to her, admiring her intelligence and talent.
Shaza agrees, hoping that starting her own family is better than living in someone else's. Over time, her greedy, jealous, and hot-tempered husband, despite the fact that Shaza has become the mother of his two children, begins to treat her cruelly. Shaza's life turns into hell, but Shaza responds to all her husband's nagging with poetry and songs. Now they are not about love and happiness, but about the bitter lot of a mountain woman.
Shchaza had to endure many losses and hardships, human gossip and unfair treatment. Everything around her changed, but her song-friend was always with her, helping her live despite everything. And her songs gained popularity among the people, became dear; people asked her to sing, and she sang.
