Explanation split into two very long paragraphs: Why I stopped posting for a bit, and my analysis of my own video lol
I know this is very different from most of the other videos on my channel but I think since around Christmas time when I finally watched Steins; Gate Zero I've wanted to make this. One of the major reasons I stopped posting was because I wasn't satisfied with the quality of work I was putting out and I wasn't enjoying making it either. I spent hours at my computer with neck pain barely drawing anything- just puppeting my previous drawings around. The slow decline in views didn't help my motivation either. The more time it took me to post the more the views declined (and being being busy with school and life made me not want to work on videos that I didn't have a drive to make). I hate to say it but a main motivator of my videos was the money I made off of them. I was able to make it my summer job for 2021 which was amazing. I'm so glad that I got to reach so many people. I just don't want my most viewed piece of art to be something that I'm not proud of (I know that it's inevitable with the internet but still). It's just that the audios were never mine so I didn't feel like I was telling my own story and I didn't feel like people were actually watching for my art. So here I am months later with a video that I will not make any money off of because of copyrighted music for a fandom that has been long dead. I really want to make videos that will improve my artistic ability and skills so I still will try to finish the child Aizawa series but it might take a while (lol its been months sorry) but I'm going to try and create more stuff that I actually want to make and I hope that you guys stick around with me.
So I really love Steins; Gate and when I heard this song after rewatching it I couldn't stop thinking about how well it fit. There was the obvious "love" and "brain" fitting so well with Mayuri and Makise because they are the one's whose deaths are most integral to the plot and they are the ones who get blanked out in the song. I made Ruka "heart" because of this one line that Suzuha said. She said that Ruka was Okabe's salvation. Also Ruka is a trans girl in my mind so I added the trans flag on the heart that she makes. I don't think she was meant to be a gay man because she said she always felt like she was meant to be a girl and that really gives me trans vibes. So there. I'm not budging on that. "Control" for Suzuha is because she is desperately trying to control the future so that WWIII doesn't happen. I tried to show the progression of her character from having the mask of the weird happy-go-lucky part-timer, to the time traveler, and then when her outfit and hairstyle changes once they are close to the Steins Gate worldline. Hope you appreciate the extra effort I put there lol. Caffeinate for Faris is self explanatory: she works in a maid café. Melatonin is perfect for Moeka and I thought it'd be funny if I made her type it instead of her saying it out loud so I made her thumb move. I also wanted to show the changing of world lines with each time the phrases are repeated. So the first time everyone is alive, the second time Makise is murdered and the line "you get me going" is Okabe starting his worldline jumping due to Makise's death. I literally stole the worldline shift animation from the show and pasted it on top of my drawing. So then we are in the worldline where Mayuri is dead no matter what, which is where Moeka is in her motorcycle suit. So then it repeats and now we go into where Okabe first travels back to save Makise. The knife is from Makise's murder and then the wake up I think I wanted to be Suzuha yelling at Okabe to try and reach Steins Gate. Then the Slap is so well fitting because it is what allows for Steins Gate Zero to exist! (this song fits so well I love it) The slap from Mayuri is what causes the timeline from the first anime to diverge from where Okabe does not try to save Makise again because Mayuri does not slap him. So Okabe breaks into two versions of himself the red one that remains is the Steins Gate Zero timeline. Hence the Zero pulsing in the middle. Then the next part is supposed to resemble the scene in Zero where he accidentally changes wordlines when Amedeus is compromised. I was originally going to have it be when he tries to save Makise a second time because of the line "who could you be?" and she does not know him yet, but the Zero scene fit better I think because of the rest of the lines. Okabe says he is injury because of the endless suffering he went through and still not able to have a happy ending. Then Makise butts in and is like no you make the choice to be because he literally has to make the choice to find a way to save both Makise and and Mayuri after he had already given up on finding Steins Gate. By the end Okabe is back in his lab coat as Kyoma and they reach #steinsgate
