This presentation will briefly examine US-China bilateral relations from 1882 when US Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act, to 1950, when American and Chinese soldiers fought a brutal war in Korea, and to what happened to the two countries since President Nixon’s visit to China in 1972. It will then focus on what has gone wrong in the relationship between the US and China in the last five years. It will conclude with how the two nations may walk into an armed conflict and how it will impact peace and prosperity in the two nations and the world.
