Appreciating the FNX-45 45 ACP
Have you ever had a gun that you liked a lot initially, but that you liked even more the more you shot it?
That's what today's video is about. An appreciation of FN America's FNX-45 Tactical pistol.

Way back in the July 2016 issue, we bought and shot an FNX-45 Tactical in 45 Auto, along with Glock and Smith & Wesson 9 millimeters.

It was one of three pistols we were evaluating as optics-ready models, back when "optics-ready" was not that common.
Equipped with a Burris FastFire II red dot sight, the FNX earned a B+ grade.
That's not a super-high score.
But we kept the gun around to use in some suppressor stories, because the FNX was already set up with a threaded barrel muzzle and suppressor-height sights.
The more we fired it with and without a can, the more we liked the pistol.
Big thing was, it didn't have function issues like some other pistols we fired with a suppressor.
We also liked the FN's checkered polymer frame.
It has a low-bore axis for reduced felt recoil into the hand.
The grip angle provided a comfortable, natural point of aim.
Four interchangeable backstraps allowed us to quickly customize the grip feel.
Our left-handed shooters appreciated its operating controls being fully ambidextrous.
The stainless-steel slide has high-profile combat night sights
Also, the slide includes two mounting bases to accept multiple styles of optional red-dot electronic sights.
Its 15-round magazines withstood our shooters going prone with them.
In the September 2018 issue, we gave the FNX-45 an A grade for its improved accuracy with a suppressor and its reliable function.
In the years since, it's become one of our favorite guns.
