Rappers Are Fake Gangsters | Ryan Olsen
I was born in 1976, and was able to observe the way that rap music morphed over time from a seemingly positive form of lyrical expression to a dark and vile gateway into a world of profanity, drugs, promiscuity, violence, hate, etc. Something that dawned on me one day is that the rappers themselves cannot possibly be gangsters, gangstas, G's, etc. While some of these characters may have at one time been involved in illegal activity consistent with a "gangsta" life, that time must have been very short lived. Looking at the lives of the two rappers that I picked randomly, it would appear that they simply could not have had much experience in "gangstering". Even if I am completely wrong (which I highly doubt), do you really think these people continue lives of constant criminality? If not, why are they glorifying a lifestyle that they themselves do not live? My hope is that someone out there can think about what I am saying and find better role models than people who simply do not have their best interests at heart, but rather seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to make a buck.
