As I had promised, I will discuss green house gases more in detail.so into this video we will get to know what actually are the green house gases and how many green house gases are present in the earth's atmosphere.
If we will see the definitions of green house gases in simple terms we can say that green house gases are those gases in the earth's atmosphere which have the capability to trap a heat which is coming from terrestrial radiation. And i am damn sure that you are not able to understand green house gases with this definition only.
So now to make it more clear first of all we need to know what is a green house effect?
Suppose that a house is made up of glass usually for growing plants. Now that is why we call it a green house.
Now the rays coming directly from the sun are of short wavelength and they can easily penetrate inside the glass house but it is effectively opaque to the much longer wavelength emitted by plants and soil inside the glass house. This process makes glass house warmer and it is suitable for the growth of plants.
In a similar way ,when sunlight strikes the earth surface, some of it radiated back towards space as infrared radiation and green house gases absorb this infrared radiation and trap its heat in the atmosphere creating green house effect.
So this is all about the green house gases . Now the next question is how many green house gases are present in the earth's atmosphere.
But before going to discuss these gases we need to know that the presence of green house gases is necessary to maintain average temperature at 14 to 15 degree Celsius.
In fact in the absence of these gases the average temperature of earth would have been -18 degree Celsius.
Let us know about the green house gases.
1) Co2 - This gas accounts for about 76 percent of total green house gas emission .Their sources are Industry, Transportation and burning of fossil fuels etc.
2) CH4 - It is primarily produced from paddy fields which contributes almost 16 percent of green house gases emissions.
3) No2 - it contributes 6 percent to global green house gases emissions. Their main sources are chemical fertilizer Industries.
4 ) last but not the least Flourinated gases which are further classified into CFC,HFC,PFC,SF6
