In War Thunder combined battles, the Mi-24V or Mi-24P helicopter pilot can perform quite well, if used correctly. Similar modifications are available in other nations' tree branches, such as the Mi-24P HSF 80 in the German tree.
Under active counteraction from radar-equipped SAM systems and gun-armed ZSUs, the most appropriate approach is to attack at maximum speed and low altitude using ATGMs and unguided rockets, followed by a quick escape from the anti-aircraft guns' range, using terrain, buildings, and other obstacles that can provide cover from enemy radar, missiles, and shells. Be wary not only of specialized anti-aircraft guns but also of tanks with heavy anti-aircraft machine guns, as well as ATGM and guided missile carriers. They can be used to shoot down hovering or distracted helicopter pilots just as effectively as the Tunguska or ADATS. Flares can protect against heat-seeking air defense systems (the Italian SIDAM with Mistral missiles)—they have 192 of them, which is more than enough to deflect several missiles. However, it's important to remember that flares don't guarantee a missile's miss, and they won't help against radar-guided missiles at all. A ballistic computer for the missiles will allow for the easy and accurate destruction of enemy tanks.
The Mi-24V (nicknamed "Crocodile," NATO reporting name "Hind-E") is the most widely produced version of the Soviet attack helicopter developed by the Mil Design Bureau. Developed in parallel with the Mi-24D, changes were also made to the cockpit and onboard weapons: the pilot and operator were seated in isolated tandem cockpits, and a mobile USPU-24 machine gun mount with a YakB-12.7 machine gun was added. However, the key feature of the Mi-24V version was the new Shturm anti-tank missile system with 9M114 missiles and the Raduga guidance system. This version of the helicopter was accepted into service by the USSR on March 29, 1976, and over 1,000 of this modification were produced.
