This World Coin Doesn't Fit in a Normal PCGS Holder! The 1975 Tonga 2 Pa'Anga
You are looking at a 2 Pa-anga coin from the island of Tonga. Struck in 1975 by the Royal Australian Mint for Tonga, this heavy 42 gram coin was struck as part of a multi-denomination commemorative issue sold by the Food and Agriculture Organization at the United Nations as part of their 1975 album. The obverse features Taufa'ahau Tupou IV- the beefy Island King while the coin’s reverse features three livestock scenes and the FAO logo and an inscription promoting WORLD FOOD DAY. 13,000 were struck. It is the finest known at PCGS MS67, but I’m the only one to have ever submitted one. I estimate this coin to have a value of between $20 and $30.
