Kokanee release day on Lake Sammamish
We joined partners, community members, and local tribes to release over 12,000 young kokanee salmon back into their native waters of Lake Sammamish. The ceremonial blessing and sunset over the lake remind us how significant this day is for the survival of this rare species.
These kokanee—once on the brink of disappearing—now have a stronger chance at thriving thanks to the efforts of the Lake Sammamish Kokanee Group.
