Making the Frostner from Valheim
With all the buzz Ive been hearing about Valheim, we are making the Frostner this week! Whats your favourite weapon?
Valheim is an upcoming survival and sandbox video game by the Swedish developer Iron Gate Studio, released in early access on 2 February 2021 for Windows and Linux on Steam.It was made by five people.
The premise of the game is that players are Vikings in an afterlife where they have to craft tools, build shelters and fight enemies to survive. The game uses stylized 3D graphics with a third-person perspective and a combat system inspired by action games. Co-operative gameplay with up to nine people and optional PvP gameplay are also supported.
The game was a surprise hit. Three weeks after its release, it had sold three million copies and was one of the most-played games on Steam.
The game has multiple biomes with different enemies and items available as the player progresses through the game. Combat ranges between close combat with one and two-handed weapons, shields, and long range bows.
The Frostneris a Melee weapon.
The Frost damage seems to drain the stamina from non-frost-based enemies (excluding trolls). A few hits makes most enemies move very slow and incapable of attack.
The Frost damage component will also grant bonus damage against enemies that have the "Wet" status debuff, making the weapon particularly effective against enemies inside of rivers or moats.
The Spirit damage seems to provide a bonus against some types of enemies, such as Draugr or Wraiths, and can apply a Damage-over-time effect in some instances.
Upgrading Frostner at a Forge only increases its Frost damage, Durability, and Parry Force. It does not increase the other damage types on the weapon, and as a result makes upgrades quite expensive for what you get.
