The itsy bitsy spider climbed... in the patient's ear? 🕷🕸👂
A 64-year-old woman visited a Taiwanese hospital due "beating, clicking, and rustling sounds" in her left ear and a feeling of a creature moving inside.
The experience was so disturbing that she hadn't been able to sleep, Liyin Weng, BS, and Tengchin Wang, MD, reported in @nejm.
Doctors found a small spider identified as Adanson's house jumper in her external auditory canal, which they removed along with its exoskeleton using a suction cannula.
