Model of the RMS Empress of Ireland constructed out of LEGO sinking in my swimming pool.
For my history buffs this is clearly NOT a recreation on how the ship actually sank, I am merely messing around in the pool.

This model is 6'2" long and weighs 23 pounds. Over 5,000 bricks were used to make this model. It is 246 LEGO studs long and 28 studs wide.
This ocean liner sank in 1914 in the Saint Lawrence River after the coal carrying ship, the SS Storstad, rammed into the Empress's starboard side of the hull roughly around midship. The Empress was immediately awashed with seawater, and quickly developed an extreme starboard list. Aided by open portholes and watertight doors that had to be manually closed, the ship foundered in roughly only fifteen minutes, taking with her 1,012 of the 1477 souls aboard.
