No wonder Bunta bought a Subaru. Akina Hillclimb - Assetto Corsa
My Fellow Racers,
Continuing with the still nameless series, here is Chapter 7 using the 2022 Subaru WRX STi that is buffed up to 399HP and equipped with a rear spoiler for stability at high speeds. I chose this car to represent AWD cars for the hillclimb time attack at Akina & I managed to get 4:35:042 on a clean run. This was quite an easy run, the car had a lot of potential going into and exiting corners. The weakness showed itself at mid-corner points... if I went on the power too much too soon, the load transferring to the outside tyres would cause the alignment to go off and the car would understeer. Once I figured that out, it was easy to adapt my driving style and nail a clean run with some close calls here and there.
As I mentioned previously in chapter 1, there are rules that I am following for this because it is a personal challenge so here it is:-
1. Starting at the start line. No rolling starts.
2. No collisions. Self-explanatory.
3. No tyre blankets. Have to heat the tyres on the run.
4. Along with no collisions allowed, there is also a track limit rule;
4.1. The run must register clean in whatever way the game decides it (I will look into getting more info on this)
4.2. Gutter runs and off-road are green zones.
5. Tyre choices are open.
6. All setup options open.
7. Track conditions set to 100%... or lower.
8. Force feedback options open with exceptions;
8.1. Auto-matching steering rotation must be on.
8.2. Auto-matching transmission must be on.
I think that's about it, I haven't thought of anything else.
Car details:
Firstly, I used "Comp" tyres (the other option was "Track"). I had a minimalistic custom setup alongside that. There wasn't much to do besides the alignment.
