My BEST 2x2 Competition EVER! 1.56 (PR), 1.67 AND 1.93 (Winning) OFFICIAL 2x2 Averages! (WR55)
All solves done at Phoenix Cube Challenge 2022, Rounds 1, 2 and 3!
Hey everyone! This video is once again, to showcase my fast 2x2 solves from all 3 2x2 Rounds of Phoenix Cube Challenge 2022. I'm really happy with my performances here: sub-2ed all 3 rounds, and also got a pure sub-2 average! On a related note, I'm really sorry for all the solves I've been posting here lately, I promise this will be the last "RamSolves type video" until I break my 2x2 PR Average again! :P
Also, I am honoured to now be faster than some amazing countries like the UK, Taiwan and tie Norway! Also sub my idol: Chris Olson (who has 1.57!)
To talk about why this is my best 2x2 performance ever, let me go over an analysis of each round separately:
Round 1 (1.56 PR Avg): This average was an NR Fail in 2 ways. Firstly, on solve 2, there was a 6-mover and had I seen that, it would've given me a sub-1 single and a 1.45 Average. But I did 3 moves into an easy CLL instead (sadly not recorded). Also, going into the last solve, I had a counting 1.44 and 1.47 and I didn't even realise it (for reference, NR is 1.47). Sadly as seen on the last solve, I had a pretty bad lockup resulting in my worst solve, but nonetheless, I'm still very pleased with this average!
Round 2 (1.67 Avg): This was probably my most SOLID 2x2 Performance yet! I'm very happy with my recovery after the DNF, and apart from some catches here and there, my turning was really good as well! The scrambles weren't incredibly easy either (besides the last 2), Solve 3 was actually a No-Bar Scramble.
Final Round (1.93 Winning Avg): Super happy with this win, but it was rather bittersweet. I was way too nervous this round and could barely inspect properly, so my solutions were pathetic. I'm honestly surprised how I still got Sub-2. Solves 1 and 3 had better solution which could've both easily been Sub-2, but I missed them. Solve 2 was quite catchy and could've been 1.6x. On Solve 5, my timer malfunctioned (the time would've been 2.4x, giving me a 2.18 Avg), which was lucky since the scramble was bad and I didn't see anything good. Luckily, I got a resolve because the same malfunction happened in Skewb, and the extra scramble was amazing, and so I safetied and got a 1.70. It feels a bit bad to win this way, considering the 2nd Place Avg was 2.17, but I guess Birthday Luck works out? Also, really happy with my solid turning on Solve 4 and Solve 5 (the E1). Big shoutout and thank you to @HiteshKumarBhuwalka for judging this round btw!
All in all, really solid performance! Hoping I can keep this up! :)
