4 years ago, I had a dream. A dream to be up there with the fastest 2x2 Solvers in the world. I had no intention in going for any kind of records, but I always had one simple goal in mind, an official average under 2 seconds.
Fast forward to mid-2020, my improvement was rapid. Due to obvious reasons, we all had so much more time to practice, and I went from averaging mid-2 to about 1.6 seconds. From being suspected of faking at online competitions, to not having a chance to prove myself officially, I was always questioning myself when I would get to compete. I peaked at 2x2 in late-2020, and slowly started getting slower from there.
In April 2022, 1.5 years since my peak, I got the opportunity to show what I was capable of. My global at the time was 1.8 seconds, and I was able to get a 1.76 official average! From then to the end of 2022, I kept breaking my PR Averages, reaching a 1.45 official average, only 0.02 off NR!
2023 was an interesting year of 2x2 for me. Since I competed my whole year in NZ, the new environment was totally different for me, it was far more intense. Therefore, I was unable to break any 2x2 PR Averages there.
After an intense year of competing in New Zealand, I just came to this Indian competition hoping to have some fun, and not care too much about results. I guess that paid off... 🙃
I'm not someone who has aimed for solely National Records. I prefer keeping my goals time-based, and I go to cubing competitions for nothing but fun. However, I couldn't be happier to finally get this NR Average after nearly 4 years beyond my peak!
I hope you guys enjoyed my little rant about my journey to get here! It's been a wild ride, and as much as I hope this is not the end, adult life is taking over! :) I will still keep pushing and give my best though!
For now though, it's time for me to enjoy my success and relax for a couple of weeks without 2x2! My next competition in 2 weeks is only big cubes, and I think I can proudly put my 2x2 to the side for a bit! :)

As for the average itself, I'm really happy with Solves 1 and 5, 5 was almost 12 tps, which is insane considering the circumstances (I needed a 1.41 to tie NR Average on the solve, and it was 16 moves). I was thrown off by the Gen3 Timer on Solve 2 (as you guys saw, my start was locky). 3 was kinda bad execution (no video but it's pretty obvious if you check the scramble), and 4 was just kind of a bad scramble, and I was too nervous to inspect properly.
As of 9th January 2024, this 1.41 average ranks me:
1st in India
14th in Asia
49th in the World (wooo Top 50 again!!)
Fun Facts about this average/record:
1. I am the first person since Satyajit Das in 2012 to hold both the Indian NRs for 2x2.
2. This average broke a 7 year long domination between Arnav Arora and Aamir Saifee holding Indian 2x2 NR Averages!
