The Marble Palace 🇷🇺 St Petersburg Vlog | S1 E24
Today we are visiting the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia. Located between the Mars Park and Neva River, one of the first things you notice about this palace is the level of detail and symmetry that was put into the design by its Italian architect, Antonio Rinaldi.
The palace was built as a gift from Catherine the Great for Count Grigory Orlov who was an artillery officer that helped her dethrone her husband Peter the Third. The construction began in 1768 and took 17 years, in total 32 different shades and kinds of marble were used on the exterior and interior of the palace.
