In this problem, we're tasked with writing a script to find the resultant (and it's location) of a system of vertical forces acting on a beam. In order to solve this problem, we'll need to know something about reducing a system of forces to a force-couple system and using the equivalent moment to find the distance to the resultant force.
In Part I, we'll go over the problem statement, do a quick review on force-couple systems, and talk about any other statics topics we'll need to solve this problem.
