Blackwood is a 2022 horror Western in which a female indigenous American sets up a criminal organisation to be assaulted by a terrible creature. Black Wood is another name for it.
Prospectors who have uncovered riches in the undiscovered Black Wood Forest are ambushed by Dutch Wilder and his crew. However, they must first find the horse thief who murdered one of their men. The "thief" is a Native American who has experienced harsh frontier injustice herself.
She is compelled to accompany the gang over the dangerous terrain, and she leads them deeper into the darkness, where they are attacked by a malevolent, old demonic thing...
