Cooperation project "Coops to Coast" involving Italy's VeGAL FLAG
The EU and Turkey are working together to support Turkish fisheries communities, and contribute to developing their fisheries areas by increasing capacity and awareness in the local population. Italian FLAG VeGAL (based in Venice) has been playing an active role in helping this cooperation project fulfill its goals. The FLAG has shared expertise on empowering the local population and given advice on what is needed to make diversification projects successful, for example training for fishermen, examination of rules and regulations and promotion activities.
