Encrypt A U.S.B. Stick
In this tutorial, we fully encrypt a U.S.B. stick, or other removable drive, using BitLocker, a free tool already installed in Windows 10. Drives encrypted using BitLocker can be read using any Windows 10 device, although only after entry of a defined password, or using a recovery key created in the event of emergency.
This video follows the encryption process, from activating BitLocker, through choice of unlock method, password selection, creation of a recovery key, choice of encryption method and compatibility options. We subsequently eject and reinsert the drive, navigating its newly added layer of security, and we designate trusted devices, which will not require a password to unlock.
It should be noted that, whilst any version of Windows can read data encrypted using BitLocker, Windows Professional will be required to write to an encrypted drive.
