Leadership & Innovation in Medical Education
On August 16, 2022, the Arizona Medical Association (ArMA) had the honor of hosting Kathleen Brite Hillis, MD, during the fourth and final session of its new webinar series, "4 Physician Perspectives on Transformative Leadership." Dr. Brite Hillis' presentation, "Leadership & Innovation in Medical Education," discussed the transformative innovations of leadership in medical education.
Dr. Brite Hillis is a dedicated educator, precepting at the bedside and involved in undergraduate medical education curriculum for over a decade. She is the associate dean for clinical and competency-based education at UA COM-P and is currently serving as interim senior associate dean for undergraduate medical education. She has been active in community medicine through clinical work at Wesley Community and Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, and Bayless Integrated Healthcare, where she recently served as vice president of primary care. As the previous chair of the curriculum committee, she remains involved and is passionate about competency-based longitudinal education, time variable progression, and personalization of medical education. Dr. Brite Hillis is dedicated to anti-racism transformation in medical education and works to address health disparities and inequities in medicine. She is a strong advocate for inclusive excellence and increasing diversity in UME and GME.
As a proud mother of three boys, Dr. Brite Hillis enjoys spending any available free time with her family as time flies along and they grow up too fast. She also enjoys an active lifestyle of hiking, biking, tennis, and just about anything outside.
