In this video, I go over my reasons and experience finally learning FPGA design. The project I used to learn the subject is a port of my binary clock 'Wooden Bits'.

The binary clock lends itself perfectly to learning FPGAs as it is a simple counter, based on D-Type Flip-Flops - the building blocks internal to an FPGA and one of the first things one learns.
