Did Diogo Jota Say Goodbye Forever?
Diogo Jota, a 28-year-old footballer who played for Liverpool FC and the Portugal national team, sadly died on July 3, 2025, in a car accident in Spain. He was traveling with his brother, André Silva, in a rented Lamborghini Urus on the A-52 motorway when the car suffered a tire blowout, went off the road, and caught fire. Both brothers died at the scene.
Jota had just gotten married to his long-time partner Rute Cardoso, and they had three children. He had a successful career, scoring 65 goals in 182 matches for Liverpool and helping the team win the Premier League in 2024–25. He also played 49 times for Portugal.
His death caused shock and sadness around the world. Liverpool FC called it an "unimaginable loss," and tributes came from players, fans, and leaders, including Cristiano Ronaldo and former coach Jürgen Klopp.
