Although it’s a common respiratory illness in young children, a case of croup can still put parents in a panic. Croup often crops up with little or no warning, usually in the middle of the night, and a child suffering from the condition may suddenly have real difficulty breathing. Although there’s no cure for croup and no sure-fire way to prevent it, knowing what to look for – or more accurately, what to listen for – can help.
