My tips for a bountiful cucumber harvest in pots:
🪴 Use a pot with a volume of at least 20 liters – the larger the pot, the better for nutrient supply.
🧱 Create a drainage layer of broken clay pots, expanded clay pebbles, or gravel to prevent waterlogging.
🌱 Use peat-free potting soil for vegetables or tomatoes – cucumbers thrive in this.
💧 Leave a 1–2 cm watering rim and water thoroughly to ensure good root contact.
🌞 Place the pot in a sunny, warm, and sheltered spot – ideally after the last frost.
🌿 Fertilize with liquid fertilizer every two weeks; the nutrients in the potting mix will be depleted after 3–6 weeks.
🥒 Mini snack cucumbers are a more efficient choice for balconies – they produce fruit faster than regular cucumbers.
