Man Utd Away Fans - Munich
Ever wondered what it was like to travel to a European away day with the red army!
First stop was pod parking at T5 before an early 7:30am flight to Munich
Munich is a sacred place for the reds after the tragic air disaster in 1958. For the Bayern Munich away game, thousands of reds made the pilgrimage to the Manchesterplatz, to the East of the city, to pay their respects to those that sadly lost their lives in the crash
Oktoberfest was on during the day, so many fans joined the crowds at the famous carnival at Theresienwiese but most fans congregated around Marienplatz in the centre of the city. All the tube lines run through Marienplatz including the s8 line that takes you to and from the airport in just over 30 mins and the U6 that takes you up to the football stadium in just over 15 minutes.
The fans are often held back at the end of a European game but not in Munich, so we were able to leave the stadium at around 11pm and we could use the public transport to get back to the Airport.
I booked a Napcab at Munich T2 https://www.napcabs.com/ from 1am-5:30am for about £40. I flew from T1 but the terminals are close together and you can walk between them in 5 minutes.
