Beirut’s Explosion Felt Throughout the Lebanon City
At least 100 people are dead, thousands wounded, and 300,000 displaced after a massive explosion in Beirut. Lebanon's prime minister has given some insight into the likely cause of the Beirut blast: ammonium nitrate, which is a highly explosive material used in fertilizers and bombs. It had been sitting in a warehouse near the port of Beirut for six years.
