In this tutorial I explain how to make a block mold with vents to minimize air entrapment. A vent system is sometimes necessary to minimize air bubbles in thin walled, cast resin parts. In this video I mold a thin knife blade to illustrate the use and function of vents. Vents can be very helpful when casting resins, rubber materials, and expanding foam. A silicone mold with proper vents will make casting bubble free parts much easier with or without pressure casting.
I used low viscosity TC-5130 silicone for the mold and high strength TC-808 Jet Black for the cast. You can find links to the products below:
