I've been grappling with a nagging feeling that the shifts in the political landscape have left me without a clear label. I've never considered myself a conservative, but during the height of the "anti-woke" movement, it was an easy shorthand to let people know where I stood on cultural issues. However, as the tide is turning, it's revealing cracks within right-wing circles that conflict with my personal beliefs.
It started months ago with the racism directed at Vivek Ramaswamy and the rising focus on discussions about Jewish people—even when it’s not overt antisemitism—that I simply don't align with. Despite being a supporter of Donald Trump for president, I find myself increasingly distant from the Republican platform.
The final straw was Kyle Rittenhouse's recent endorsement of Ron Paul—perhaps our greatest living politician—over Trump because of 2nd Amendment rights. The MAGA crowd's reaction was telling, as they bullied him into aligning with them. For years, the conservative party has mocked the cult-like mentality of the left, but now they’re displaying the same ignorance, close-mindedness, and dogmatism.
