Learn how to bypass the Microsoft Account and Network requirements when installing Windows 11 or turning on a new computer for the first time. You'll find this helpful when setting up a new computer for a friend or family member or if you need to setup lots of new computers for a business. Yes, you can still create and use a Local Account in Windows 11 using this information!
-------------------
IMPORTANT: If the command in this video doesn't work, try entering this instead:
start ms-cxh:localonly
That command causes the Windows local account creation wizard to appear. Enter a username and password (It's easier if you leave the password boxes BLANK) and then the Windows 10/11 setup process will finish and you'll reach the Windows Desktop screen without being required to join a network or join/create a Microsoft Account!
ADDENDUM NOTE #2: PCs that come from the factory in "Windows S-Mode" will not be able to bypass the Microsoft Account requirement. I have spent many hours searching for a reliable method to bypass it but have not found anything as of yet.
I usually end up creating a "temporary" E-Mail address and enter it during the Windows Setup process. Once you reach the Windows Desktop screen, you'll need to disable "Windows S-Mode". Here are some quick instructions from Chat GPT about how to do that:
1. Open the Microsoft Store
2. In the Microsoft Store, search for "Switch out of S Mode" in the search bar.
3. Click on the result and select Get or Install to initiate the switch.
4. Follow Prompts
Once the PC is no longer in Windows S-Mode, you can add a new "Local" user account (with Administrator rights) and then start using that account instead of the original Microsoft connected account.
Here are instructions for doing that (Written by me): --
1. Click the start button and then click on "Settings"
2. Go to "Accounts", "Other Users" and then click the "Add account" button to add a new user.
3. Click "I don't have this person's sign-in information" and then click "Add a user without a Microsoft account".
4. Enter a username and password (if desired) and click Next.
5. Finally, click on the down arrow next to the new account and click on "Change account type". Set it to "Administrator" and click OK.
6. Sign out of the PC and sign back in using the new user account. The new account will NOT be tied to a Microsoft account and you can now go back to the Users list and DELETE the old account that was used to configure the PC.
7. You can also remove the PC from the Temporary Microsoft Account that was used earlier.
