Many of you have asked me for a bit more personal video on my life in Sweden, so I made this one with my thoughts on Swedish winter and what better way to do it as a photographer than filming a vlog?

As an immigrant living in Sweden (South West coast) it might be difficult for many to get used to winters in Scandinavia, where days are short, weather is cold and social life non-existent during Nordic winters.

It is well-known that Scandinavia has higher rates of depression during winter than other countries with more daylight. One of the ways to feel good and survive the winter is to boost your immune system and release the feel good hormones by using different methods of cold therapy. For my it's most often visiting a sauna at least once every week.

However, I have also tried making it a routine of going to the lake every day even after the summer was over and take a swim in the cold water. For a while they called me the ice queen here in the village.

It's not as hard as it looks. It takes a bit of mindfulness and relaxation around the cold. Some try even meditation and different breathing techniques like the Wim Hof method, but I haven't had the need for that.

In this video you will see me trying an ice bath with a friend in the freezing water, trying to control my breath and all. The cold therapy works for me. I feel like I'm in a good health and in a better mood. And even though I'm far from being a real Viking, it certainly makes my life abroad more interesting.

Do your research and consult your doctor if necessary before you attempt anything like this.
