A short vertical spread is an options strategy composed of both a long and short option, using the same underlying stock and the same expiration. It’s a relatively neutral strategy with only a slight directional bias depending on the side you sell (call or put).
It can be created by selling an out-of-the-money option while simultaneously buying an even further out-of-the-money option.
