Distal bicep tear and recovery period. This injury occurred on April 21, 2019. Surgery was done 3 days after the incident. The window to have this surgery is very limited due to the tendon reattaching itself somewhere else which causes further complications. I chose to be awake throughout the entire surgery. The recovery period is 100 % prognosis and even better due to the strength of the repair. The recovery period is between 10 and 12 weeks. The symptoms of this injury is a loud ripping or tearing sound in the arm of occurrence and bad pain. Without surgery it is possible to loose 50% of the strength in the arm of occurrence. The pain killer prescribed are opioids. I requested percocet or OxyCodone. Rest and relaxation is key.
