Munger Buys Alibaba Stock. Charlie Munger purchased BABA stock through the Daily Journal Corporation (DJCO) at a cost basis est. between $225-$270 according to 13F filings. Charlie Munger is a value investor and Warren Buffett’s business partner at Berkshire Hathaway, and this video explains why he added shares of Alibaba to the DJCO portfolio using his investment principles. Alibaba is a tech company operating in e-commerce, cloud computing, financial services, and more.

Additional Notes: Since BYD is listed overseas, the stock doesn’t show up in the Daily Journal Corporation’s 13F filing, because 13F filings only track US-listed stock positions. There’s also discussion whether Himalaya Capital sold its Alibaba position after 1Q20. This is a possibility; however, they could have converted their US shares to HK shares, which would show up as a sale in the 13F.
