As an active portable operator, I’m always looking for logging software that makes my Parks on the Air (POTA) and World Wide Flora & Fauna (WWFF) activations smooth and efficient. Over the past few months, I’ve tested several different options—Ham2K PoLo and World Radio League—and after plenty of field use, I’ve found a clear winner.

World Radio League – A Strong Contender

World Radio League has a lot going for it. Its direct integration with QRZ and LoTW impressed me, which makes uploading logs a breeze. It also adds a fun twist with gamification features, encouraging operators to chase awards and track progress more interactively. This is a fantastic motivator for those who enjoy seeing their stats grow in real time.

Ham2K PoLo – The Winner for Me

While World Radio League has its strengths, Ham2K PoLo edged it out as my go-to logger. What makes PoLo stand out is its broad support for multiple “on the air” programs—not just POTA and WWFF, but also Summits on the Air (SOTA), Field Day, Winter Field Day, and even Canadian Historical Sites on the Air (CHOTA). This versatility means I can use one app for nearly all of my portable operations without juggling different platforms.

On top of that, PoLo is designed to be fast, simple, and mobile-friendly—exactly what you need when you’re logging contacts in the field, often under less-than-ideal conditions. The interface focuses on the essentials, so I can spend less time tapping my phone and making QSOs more.

Final Thoughts

Ham2K PoLo and World Radio League are excellent tools, and I can see why different operators might prefer one over the other depending on their style. But for me, the flexibility, simplicity, and broad program support of Ham2K PoLo make it the clear winner.

If you’re an active POTA or WWFF activator—or you enjoy participating in other portable programs—I highly recommend giving Ham2K PoLo a try. It’s become my trusted companion in the field, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
